MATTHEW D. BROOKS is thrilled to make his ABT debut in Ain’t Misbehavin’. A Southern boy at heart, Matthew comes to Arizona from NYC by way of Arkansas. Most recently he was seen in the 50th Anniversary Celebration of West Side Story at the Fulton Opera House. Some of his theatre highlights include: Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat (Gad/Calypson), HONK! (The Cat), The Hot Mikado (Gentleman of Japan), Five Guys Named Moe (Four-Eyed Moe), A Chorus Line (Butch), Ain’t Misbehavin’ (Ken), HAIR (Berger), Children of Eden, regional television commercials, TV & radio voice-overs, and independent films. Matthew has also been a lead vocalist at Dorney Park. Thank you to the Almighty God, my family, friends, the Duvals, James, the ABT family, and those who have gone before me. Matthew would like to dedicate this performance to his late dance teacher, mentor, friend and now angel, “Miss Dot.” Now, sit back and enjoy the show!
NAKEISHA DANIEL is excited to return to ABT after appearing in Little Shop of Horrors (Crystal) earlier this season. Nakeisha is a native of Atlanta, Ga. Her credits include: Thoroughly Modern Millie (Muzzy), Nunsense (Sr. Hubert), Ragtime (Sarah), Disney’s Aladdin Jr. (Narrator) at the Tony Award-winning Alliance Theatre, Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat (Narrator), and Ain’t Misbehavin’ (Charlaine Woodard character). She has performed and choreographed at various regional theatres. Nakeisha graduated from Shorter College with a B.F.A. in Musical Theatre. She would like to thank her family and friends for their constant support.
ROVIN JAY returns to Arizona Broadway Theatre after being “seen”
as The Voice of the Plant in ABT’s production of Little Shop of Horrors. Hailing from the OC in California, Rovin’s regional credits include James “Thunder” Early in Dreamgirls, Judas in Jesus Christ Superstar, Marcellus Washburn in the Music Man, Jim in
Big River, along with appearances in Disney’s Aladdin – A Musical Spectacular, Smokey Joe’s Café and Joseph & The Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat. Rovin sends his love out to his beautiful daughters, Morgan Elena and Taylor Lynn, his constant inspiration.
VONETTA MIXSON is thrilled to make her ABT debut with a production and role that marks blessed #7 (yes it’s true). Her credits include: Effie in Dreamgirls, BJ in Smokey Joe’s Café, Sis. Mary Hubert in Nunsense I & II, Mabel in The Pajama Game, and Mama Euralie in Once on this Island. Currently nominated for upstate NY’s SALT Awards as Actress of the Season for the Merry-Go-Round Playhouse production of Ain’t Misbehavin’, Vonetta is the proud recipient of more than 6 Inland Empire ITL Awards and San Diego County’s Patte’ Award. She recently completed the demo CD of Paradise Tossed, an original L.A. workshop recording. Having performed everywhere from great European cathedrals to cozy jazz clubs, Vonetta is proud to be an educator with Riverside Community College (Business Faculty) and a Vocal/Songwriting Instructor at Citrus College (her alma mater). As an entrepreneur, she is co-producer of M & M Events, a full-service event planning and entertainment production firm and Founder/President of MEGA, Inc. I couldn’t make it without Jesus; you are my air, John--you complete me; Jocline--you are my hero. Special thanks to family, friends, colleagues, and students. LATASHA WHITMORE is thrilled to be performing on ABT’s stage for the first time. She is originally from New Jersey but currently lives in Pennsylvania with her husband, Derrick. Most recently, Latasha was seen ponying her way around the country with the National Tour of Hairspray. Regional credits include Aida (Nehebkah/Aida), Seussical (Bird Girl), Big River (Betsy), Ragtime (pas de deux dancer), and several productions at the Fulton Opera House. She is a graduate of Messiah College with a BA in Theatre Arts. When not performing, she keeps busy by teaching several dance disciplines at Miracles in Motion, instructing master classes for studios throughout the country, and constantly redecorating her house. Latasha would like to thank her husband for always allowing her to follow her dreams and her parents for always paying for her dreams.
